Subject: | Information -- Radio Presets Are Incorrect or Cannot Be Set |
Models: | 2000-2001 Cadillac DeVille, Seville |
While delivering the vehicle to the customer, it is critical that the sales consultant demonstrate how to install the CD into the navigation system. It must be explained that the respective CD that covers the region in which the customer will be driving needs to be installed in the navigation system module located in the trunk compartment. For example, if the customer lives in Orlando, Florida, CD #9 needs to be installed. If the customer lives in Los Angeles, California, CD# 1 needs to be installed. THE BALANCE OR REST OF THE CDs NEED TO BE GIVEN TO THE CUSTOMER. If, for example, a customer lives in Florida and travels to another region, he/she will need to have the correct disc to insert in the vehicle navigation system for the radio presets and navigation system to function properly in the new region.
Important: When a vehicle order is received by the assembly plant to produce one of the above mentioned models with option RPO UY4, an order is sent to the supplier to pre-ship the necessary compact discs for the navigation system to the dealer. These CDs arrive at the dealership in a leather case prior to the vehicle arriving at the dealership. There are 9 CDs in each case.
The radio and navigation system utilize the same display unit located in the console. Although the radio is a separate feature from the navigation system, certain radio options need to have the correct regional navigation CD installed for the radio to operate correctly. One of these options is the radio station presets.
Radio station presets will not be memorized despite visual confirmation (color changes from blue to light blue to green on the display) if the correct regional CD is not installed into the navigation system module.
If you should receive any questions regarding this issue, please verify that the correct regional CD has been installed in the navigation system module prior to proceeding to additional diagnostic steps.
Vehicles repaired which have not had the proper regional CD installed by the dealership/customer would not be considered a warrantable claim.
