Navigation System Loses Road Names in Detailed Map (Update Navigation Software)

Some customers may comment that when using the Navigation System and travelling from a non-detailed area to a detailed area, the turn-by-turn route and map guidance information may display an intersection that is incomplete and without road names. Also, the voice guidance feature may not have road name information.

This condition may be due to the existing Navigation Processor software not having sufficient data.

Important: This software update is to be performed ONLY on Navigation Processors, P/N 25719191.

1. Verify that the vehicle's Navigation Processor P/N is 25719191 by using a scan tool or the Navigation Display Head's diagnostic self-test feature. Refer to the Navigation Diagnostic Self-Test procedure in this bulletin.
2. If the vehicle's Navigation Processor P/N is 25719191, update the processor's software using the reusable compact disc (CD), P/N 25725803. An instruction manual is included.

To verify the vehicle's Navigation Processor's P/N, perform the following procedure on the Navigation Display Head (NDH).

1. Turn ON the ignition. Engine is OFF.
2. If the AUDIO MENU screen is not displayed, press the AUDIO MENU button on the NDH.
3. On the AUDIO MENU screen, use a quick, light touch and alternately press the upper corner areas (left, right, left, right , left, right) of the screen until the DIAGNOSIS MENU screen is displayed.
4. On the DIAGNOSIS MENU screen, press the NAVI button. The NAVI DIAG. MENU screen will be displayed. The DIAGNOSIS MENU is for service purposes only and should not be revealed to customers.
5. On the NAVI DIAG. MENU screen, press the PROGRAM button. The PROGRAM VER. screen will be displayed.
6. On the PROGRAM VER. screen:

•	If the number to the right of COMPONENT No. is 25719191, update the Navigation software using the CD, P/N 28725803.

•	If the COMPONENT No. is NOT 25719191, do not continue. Exit the Navigation Diagnostic Self-Test mode by turning OFF the ignition, open and close a door.
