Circuit Description

The circuit for the Passenger Window Switch on the LH Front Door consists of:

    • LH Front Power Window Switch
    • Simple Bus Interface (SBI)
    • Driver Door Module

The LH Front Power Window Switch is different from the other power window switches on the car in that it contains an internal microprocessor. This Power Window Switch contains a software program to sample the individual window switches and to report all switch activity in the form of Simple Bus Interface (SBI) messages to the driver door module. The actual diagnostic software program for DTC B2215 is contained in the driver door module. This diagnostic is run no less than once every 300 milliseconds. Faults involving the driver door module or the SBI will involve other DTCs and will show up in the power door locks and outside rear view mirror as well.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

If the driver door module detects that the SBI messages from the LH Front Power Window Switch show that the LH Rear window switch has been closed in the DOWN position for 15 continuous seconds, this DTC will be set. This diagnostic will not run if DTC B1982 (Battery Voltage High) or B1983 (Battery Voltage Low) is set.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

This DTC is dynamic, and as such, is set only while the fault is active. While this DTC is set, the driver door module will ignore the actuation of the LH Front power window UP and DOWN switches.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • This DTC will set from current to history when the window DOWN input cycles off or the power mode changes from OFF to RUN.
    • A history DTC will clear after 50 consecutive ignition cycles if the condition for the malfunction is no longer present.
    • Use the On-Board clearing DTC feature.
    • Use a scan tool.

Diagnostic Aids

If DTC B2215 is set, cycle the ignition. If DTC B2215 is still set, replace the LH Front Power Window Switch. Refer to Front Door Switch Replacement .
