The LH Front Power Window Switch receives a switch closed input from the mirror left-up switch when the switch is activated. The LH Front Power Window Switch recognizes the input and sends a message on the Simple BusInterface (SBI) to the driver door module or the passenger door module depending on the position of the mirror select switch. This message indicates that the mirror switch has been moved to the left-up position. The driver door module or the passenger door module then moves the horizontal mirror motor LEFT and the vertical mirror motor UP.
• | When the mirror left-up switch is active for 30 seconds continuously, the switch will be considered shorted and the DTC will set. |
• | DTC B1698 will set only if DTC B1982 DDM or DTC B1983 DDM is not current. |
• | The driver door module and the passenger door module will no longer respond to mirror left-up switch inputs. Both mirrors will not move in the affected directions. |
• | The driver door module and the passenger door module will continue to respond to valid inputs from the other mirror switches. |
• | The driver door module sees that the mirror left-up switch is no longer active. |
• | A history DTC will clear after 50 consecutive ignition cycles if the condition for the malfunction is no longer present. |
• | Use the On-Boards clearing DTCs feature. |
• | Use a scan tool. |
The contacts of the mirror switch located on the LH Front Power Window Switch are in each corner of the switch. These contacts are left-up, left-down, right-up, and right-down. If the mirror switch is operated in a diagonal direction, the switch will hit only one of the contacts and the mirror will move in both a horizontal and vertical direction. If the mirror switch is operated in direct up, down, left, or right direction, the switch will hit two contacts and the mirror will move only in the direction that is common to the two contacts. With this DTC set, any input from the left-up contact will be ignored. If the mirror switch is operated in a direct up or left direction, the mirror will actually move right and up or left and down, respectively. This is because the module is only responding to one of the contacts and ignoring the other.
