Circuit Description
The switch that set this DTC, and its circuits, are buit into the LH Front Power Window Switch assembly. When the mirror Express Fold switch is activated, the LH front power window switch assembly, which has an internal microprocessor, processes the fold switch input, and then reports the switch activity in the form of a Simple Bus Interface (SBI) to the driver door module. If the mirrors are Extended when the fold switch is activated, the driver door module will move the driver door mirror to the Fold position and send a SBI message to the front passenger door module to move the front passenger mirror to the fold position. If the mirrors are already in the folded position when the switch is activated, the door modules will move their respective mirrors to the Extend position.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
| • | When the mirror Express Fold switch is active for 30 seconds continuously, the switch will be considered shorted and the DTC will set. |
| • | DTC B1718 will set only if DTC B1982 DDM or DTC B1983 DDM is not current. |
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
| • | The driver door module will no longer respond to mirror Express Fold switch inputs. Both mirrors will not move. |
| • | The driver door module will continue to respond to valid inputs from the other mirror switches. |
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
| • | The driver door module sees that the mirror Express Fold switch is no longer active. |
| • | A history DTC will clear after 50 consecutive ignition cycles if the condition for the malfunction is no longer present. |
| • | Use the On-Boards clearing DTCs feature. |
| • | Use a scan tool. |
Diagnostic Aids
| • | A history DTC is evidence of a intermittent problem and may be caused by a sticking switch. |
| • | If DTC B1718 is current, cycle the ignition switch from OFF to RUN. If this DTC is still current, perform the following diagnostic. |
