Did you review the Wiper/Washer System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch to LO.

Do the windshield wipers stop for approximately 6 seconds and then operate for approximately 24 seconds repeatedly?

  1. Turn OFF the windshield wiper/washer switch.
  2. Disconnect the windshield wiper/washer switch connector.

Do the windshield wipers park properly?

  1. Reconnect the wiper/washer switch connector.
  2. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor connector.
  3. Measure the voltage from the windshield wiper switch signal 1 circuit to ground.

Does the voltage measure greater than the specified value?

10.5-15 V

Measure the voltage from the windshield wiper switch signal 2 circuit to ground.

Did the voltage measure greater than the specified value?

1.0 V

Repair the short to voltage in the windshield wiper switch signal 1 circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the short to voltage in the windshield wiper switch signal 2 circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the wiper/washer switch. Refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.
