Test Description

The number(s) below refer to the step number(s) on the diagnostic table.

  1. Tests the operation of the headlamp washer module and circuits. If the test lamp illuminates for a few seconds the headlamp washer pump is faulty.

  2. Tests the battery positive voltage supply circuit to the headlamp washer module.

  3. Tests the windshield washer pump control circuit from the wiper motor to the headlamp washer module.

  4. Tests the ability of the dash integration module to energize the headlamp washer module.

DEFINITION: The headlamp washers are inoperative, the windshield washers, low washer fluid indicator, and headlamps operate normal.

  1. Turn the ignition on.
  2. Turn the headlamps on.
  3. Press the windshield washer switch.

Do the headlamp washers operate normal?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

  1. Disconnect the headlamp washer pump connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp across the harness connector terminals.
  3. Turn the ignition on.
  4. Turn the headlamps on.
  5. Press the windshield washer switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the headlamp washer module.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the battery positive voltage supply circuit terminal to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Connect a test lamp from the windshield washer pump control circuit terminal in the headlamp washer module connector to ground.
  2. Turn the ignition on.
  3. Press the windshield washer switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Connect a test lamp from battery positive voltage to the DIM headlamp washer module control circuit terminal.
  2. Turn the ignition on.
  3. Turn the headlamp switch on.

Test and repair the headlamp washer pump control circuit for an open, high resistance, or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test and repair the headlamp washer pump ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open, high resistance, or short to ground in the headlamp washer module battery positive voltage supply circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test and repair the DIM headlamp washer module control circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
