Subject:Viewing the Roof Data with the Tech 2

Models:.

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Condition/Concern:

It has come to our attention that there are certain data parameters in the Tech 2, while viewing the Convertible/Folding Top Module information, which may not be correct. Folding top facts and some software issues of the Tech 2: There are a couple errors in Tech 2 software when viewing the roof data with the Tech 2. If you are viewing the history data for the roof, you will notice that there are a few parameters that are reading incorrect. The Tech 2 will display vehicle not in park and roof not calibrated under the roof history data. It always reads the same on a vehicle with or without a roof concern. The folding top motor has a hot and cold parameter for the temperature of the motor. The folding top has two set temperatures for an over temperature condition. The first temperature is a pre-alarm temperature - when the top reaches 85 degrees Celsius and the top is fully closed or fully open, the message top overheat will appear on the DIC. If the top is in the mid position the top will continue to work until the top is full open or fully closed and then the message will appear on the DIC.

The second over temp parameter is set at 95 degrees and this will make the top inoperative in any position and the top over temperature message will appear on the DIC.

There is also a Too Cold to Operate top message. When this occurs the motor temp is at -20 Celsius or below, the trunk also has a set parameter to operate in cold ambients. If the top motor sensor is reading less than -30 Celsius, the trunk will also be inoperative.

The parameter on the Tech 2 for the motor temperature reads incorrect. The Tech 2 people are working on this software. The SI people are working on a chart where you can compare resistance of the folding top motor thermistor/sensor to ambient temperature also.
