When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Condition/Concern:

Should you encounter a concern with the Adaptive Cruise System on the 2004 Cadillac XLR, the vertical alignment of the ACC sensor may be incorrect. An XLR customer with a misaligned ACC sensor may complain of one or more of the following:

  1. CLEAN RADAR CRUISE DIC message activates even though front fascia and lens are clean.
  2. When adaptive cruise control is engaged, it activates the audible alert for many overhead bridges and/or signs etc.
  3. Adaptive cruise control is not detecting the vehicle ahead (must be within 100 m) while driving on a straight road.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Please diagnose these issues as a vertical alignment concern using the established service procedure. Important: The adaptive cruise control bracket has 2 adjusters (horizontal and vertical). Use the inboard adjuster to change the vertical alignment.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
