The mirror switch contacts are the mirror switch inputs for the driver door switch (DDS). These contacts allow the DDS to detect a mirror direction request. When the mirror switch is activated to the right, left, up or down position, the DDS sends a serial data message to the DDM or PDM to command the mirror to rotate in the direction selected. The DDS monitors the switch contacts to determine how long the switch has been activated. If the DDS detects that the switch contacts are activated for greater than 30 seconds, a DTC is set.

• | The DDS detects that the switch contacts are activated. |
• | Condition must be present for greater than 30 seconds. |
Stores DTC B1697, B1702, B1707, B1712 or B1717 in DDS memory.
• | The DDS no longer detects that the switch contacts are activated for greater than 30 seconds, and: |
• | The DTC is cleared using a scan tool. |
• | The following conditions may cause an intermittent malfunction: |
- | The mirror switch was activated for longer than 30 seconds. |
- | The mirror switch is shorted internally. |
• | If the DTC does not reset after the code is cleared, then the problem may be intermittent. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems. |
