Was the Remote Keyless Entry Diagnostic System test performed?

Go to Remote Keyless Entry System Check .

  1. Inspect the door lock fuse J in the LH instrument panel wiring harness junction block. Verify that the following conditions exist:
    2. • The fuse is not open.
    • The fuse has voltage at both of the test points in all of the ignition switch positions.
  2. Connect a scan tool.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  4. Select DIAGNOSTICS on the scan tool.
  5. Select DIAGNOSTIC CIRCUIT CHECK.
  6. Select CLASS 2 MESSAGE MONITOR.

Are the BCM and RFA listed as ACTIVE?

Go to Step 3

Go to Scan Tool Cannot Communicate with RFA

  1. Close the doors.
  2. Attempt to lock and unlock the doors.

Do the doors lock and unlock?

--

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 6

  1. Resynchronize the keyless entry transmitters. Refer to Transmitter Synchronization .
  2. Attempt to lock and unlock the doors using the transmitter.

  1. Using a scan tool, select RFA DATA - KEY FOB INFORMATION.
  2. Press the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the keyless entry transmitters.

Does the status change?

  1. Select BCM SPECIAL FUNCTIONS on the scan tool.
  2. Command the door locks to lock and unlock.

Do the door locks operate?

Go to Step 7

  1. Select RFA SPECIAL FUNCTIONS on the scan tool.
  2. Select PROGRAM KEY FOBS.

Was the reprogramming successful?

--

Go to Step 8

Resynchronize the system with a known good transmitter.

Was resynchronization successful?

  1. Replace the transmitter battery. Refer to Transmitter Battery Replacement .
  2. Resynchronize the transmitter.

Do the doors lock and unlock?

  1. Replace the BCM.
  2. Reprogram the BCM with the current calibrations.

Is the reprogramming complete?

Replace the transmitter key fob.
