Exterior windnoise will be louder when the vehicle is driven
with 1 or more windows down. This noise is caused by air passing over the
following locations:
Ensure that the technician uses the following items during the test
drive in order to aid in the leak detection:
• | A mechanics stethoscope |
• | Masking tape-51 mm (2 in) |
Notice: The air hose test should only be used on fully cured urethane adhesive.
Otherwise, damage to the urethane adhesive bead could result in additional
leaks.
While driving the vehicle, determine the location of the leak by lowering
1 window at a time. If the noise can be heard with the door window lowered
and the vehicle is being driven, the noise is windrush.
In order to locate a windrush, tape over various moldings and gaps 1
at a time using 51 mm (2 in) masking tape, until the noise is
eliminated. When the area causing the windrush is taped over, the windrush
should no longer occur.
When you locate all of the reported leak conditions, return the vehicle
to the shop. Make the permanent repairs. Use the proper alignment techniques
and sealing materials as required.
