Inspect the disc brake pads for the following:

    • Excessive wear
    • Contaminated lining material
    • Uneven wear
    • Glazing
    • Abuse
    • Incorrect lining material

Go to Brake Pad Inspection in Disc Brakes.

Do any of the above conditions apply?

Replace the brake linings. Go to Brake Pads Replacement - Front Dual Piston Caliper in Disc Brakes and/or Brake Pads Replacement - Rear in Disc Brakes.

Is the repair complete?

Inspect the brake rotors for the following:

    • Hot spots
    • Scored rotor surface
    • Grooved rotor surface
    • Excessive lateral runout
    • Excessive thickness variation

Go to:

    • Brake Rotor Thickness Variation Check in Disc Brakes.
    • Brake Rotor Lateral Runout Check in Disc Brakes.
    • Brake Rotor Lateral Runout Check Rear Wheel in Disc Brakes.
    • Brake Rotor Tolerance in Disc Brakes.

Resurface the brake rotor. Go to Refinishng Brake Rotors in Disc Brakes.

If refinishing the brake rotor results in a thickness that is less than the thinnest (Refinishing) thickness, replace the rotor. Go to Brake Rotor Replacement - Front in Disc Brakes or Brake Rotor Replacement - Rear in Disc Brakes.
