Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement - On Vehicle Upper

Caution: When you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, you must disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause air bag deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
2. Remove the instrument panel accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
3. Remove the upper steering column trim cover mounting screws.



4. Remove the upper steering column trim cover the following way:

4.1.	Tilt the upper steering column trim cover upward.

4.2.	Slide the upper steering column trim cover rearward to disengage the locking tabs.

1. Install the upper steering column trim cover the following way:

1.1.	Match the locking tabs on the upper steering column trim cover with the tab slots on the lower steering column trim cover

1.2.	Lower the upper steering column trim cover.

1.3.	Slide the upper steering column trim cover forward until the locking tabs snap into the tab slots.

2. Install the upper steering column trim cover mounting screws.
3. Install the instrument panel accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
4. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.

Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement - On Vehicle Lower

Caution: When you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, you must disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause air bag deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
2. Remove the ignition cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle .
3. Remove the lower steering column trim cover from the steering column mounting screws.
4. Remove the lower steering column trim cover from the steering column.

1. Install the lower steering column trim cover to the steering column.
2. Install the lower steering column trim cover to the steering column mounting screws.
3. Install the ignition cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle .
4. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
