Perform the following test in order to diagnose all of
the transmitter operations:
Use both transmitters, if available.
- Resynchronize the transmitters to the receiver. Refer to
Transmitter Synchronization
.
If this does not correct the condition, continue the diagnosis.
- Move the vehicle outside.
- Ensure that the vehicle is as far away from metal objects as possible.
The RKE system may not operate if there are metal objects between the
transmitter and the vehicle.
- Lower the windows.
- Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
- Close the doors.
- Stand at the rear bumper.
- Aim the top of the transmitter at the vehicle.
- Operate all functions on both transmitters, if possible.
• | If a single function on one of the transmitters is inoperative,
replace that transmitter. |
• | If all of the functions on one or both of the transmitters are
inoperative, perform the following steps: |
1. | Reprogram both of the transmitters. |
Refer to Reprogramming and Remote Control Door Lock Transmitter.
- If all of the functions on both of the transmitters operate, stand
1.5 meters (5 ft) from the vehicle at several different points
while testing the operation of both of the transmitters at each point.
• | If one transmitter does not operate at some points where the other
transmitter does operate, replace the battery of the transmitter that does
not operate. |
• | If both transmitters operate 1.5 meters (5 ft) from
the vehicle, the system is operating properly. |
• | Do not attempt any repairs. |
- For additional diagnostic information on the RKE system, refer
to Keyless Entry in Electrical Diagnosis.
