Makes 🢒 Chevrolet 🢒 1999 🢒 Blazer - 4WD - RHD 🢒 Body and Accessories 🢒 Body Front End 🢒 Radiator Support Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls -- 4.3L.
  3. Remove the bumper. Refer to Front Bumper Impact Bar Replacement in Bumpers.
  4. Remove the headlamp assemblies. Refer to Headlamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  5. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  6. Remove the steering linkage shield. Refer to Steering Linkage Shield Replacement in Steering Linkage (Non-Rack & Pinion).

  7. Disconnect the A/C evaporator line from the two brackets located at the bottom of the radiator support. Refer to Evaporator Tube Replacement in HVAC System with A/C -- Automatic.
  8. Disconnect the electrical connector to the SIR discriminating sensors.
  9. Remove the SIR discriminating sensors from the radiator support (if replacing the radiator support). Refer to Inflatable Restraint Front End Discriminating Sensor Replacement in SIR.
  10. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  11. Remove bolts retaining the oil filter assembly/fluid cooler to the radiator support. Refer to Oil Filter Assembly/Fluid Cooler Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  12. Support the oil filter assembly/fluid cooler two inches below the radiator support without disconnecting any hoses/lines.
  13. Disconnect the power steering hoses to the power steering cooler. Refer to Power Steering Cooler Replacement in Power Steering System.
  14. Remove the power steering cooler from the radiator support (if replacing the radiator support). Refer to Power Steering Cooler Replacement in Power Steering System.

  15. Remove the hood release cable from the support and the hood latch. Refer to Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Replacement .
  16. Remove the hood latch support (if replacing the radiator support). Refer to Hood Latch Support Replacement .
  17. Remove the front wiring harness from the clips.
  18. Remove the ground screws from the radiator support.
  19. Remove the upper fan shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  20. Tilt the radiator toward the engine.

  21. Remove the bolts that retain the air conditioning condenser to the radiator support. Refer to Condenser Replacement in HVAC Systems with A/C -- Automatic.
  22. Remove the bolts that retain the battery tray to the radiator support. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  23. Remove the radiator air intake baffle. Refer to Radiator Air intake Baffle.
  24. Remove the hood support rod. Refer to Hood Hold-Open Rod Replacement .

  25. Remove the bolts that retain the radiator support to the right and the left wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Replacement -- Front in Exterior Trim.
  26. Remove the bolts that retain the left fender to the wheel house panel. Refer to Front Fender Replacement .

  27. Remove the bolts that retain the radiator support to the frame.
  28. Remove the bolts that retain the radiator support to the right and the left fender. Refer to Fender Replacement -- Front.
  29. Remove the radiator support frame mounts.
  30. Lightly push the left fender away from the vehicle in order to allow a clearance between the fender and the radiator support.
  31. Slide the left side of the support away from the vehicle.
  32. Remove the radiator support.

Installation Procedure

  1. Lightly push the fender away from the vehicle in order to allow a clearance between the fender and the radiator support.
  2. Install the radiator support into the frame.

    3. Slide the right side of the support onto the frame. Pivot the left side of the support into place.

  3. Install the radiator support frame mounts.

    4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the bolts through the frame mount.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 70 N·m (52 lb ft).

  5. Install the bolts that retain the left wheel house panel to the fender. Refer to Front Fender Replacement .
  6. Install the bolts that retain the radiator support to the right and the left fender. Refer to Front Fender Replacement .

  7. Install the bolts that retain the radiator support to the right and the left wheel house panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Replacement -- Front in Exterior Trim.
  8. Install the hood support rod. Refer to Hood Hold-Open Rod Replacement .
  9. Install the radiator air intake baffle to the vehicle. Refer to Radiator Air Intake Baffle Replacement.
  10. Install the bolts that retain the battery tray to the radiator support bolts. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement in Engine Electrical.

  11. Install the bolts that retain the air conditioning condenser to the radiator support. Refer to Condenser Replacement in HVAC Systems with A/C -- Automatic.
  12. Install the upper fan shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  13. Install the ground screws to the radiator support.
  14. Install the front wiring harness to the clips.

  15. Install the latch support to the vehicle (if removed). Refer to Hood Latch Support Replacement .
  16. Install the hood release cable to the support and the hood latch. Refer to Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Replacement .
  17. Install the hood release cable to the hood latch and support. Refer to Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Replacement
  18. Install the power steering cooler to the radiator support (if removed). Refer to Power Steering Cooler Replacement in Power Steering System.
  19. Connect the power steering hoses to the power steering cooler. Refer to Power Steering Cooler Replacement in Power Steering System.
  20. Install the oil filter assembly/fluid cooler to the radiator support. Refer to Oil Filter Assembly/Fluid Cooler Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  21. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  22. Install the SIR discriminating sensors to the radiator support (if removed). Refer to Inflatable Restraint Front End Discriminating Sensor Replacement in SIR.
  23. Connect the electrical connector to the SIR discriminating sensors.

  24. Connect the A/C evaporator line to the two brackets located at the bottom of the radiator support. Refer to Evaporator Tube Replacement in HVAC System with A/C -- Automatic.
  25. Install the steering linkage shield. Refer to Steering Linkage Shield Replacement in Steering Linkage (Non-Rack & Pinion).
  26. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  27. Install the headlamp assemblies. Refer to Headlamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  28. Install the bumper. Refer to Front Bumper Impact Bar Replacement in Bumpers.
  29. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls -- 4.3L.
  30. Install the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  31. Inspect the hood release latch operation.
