Front Fender Replacement Left Side
Removal Procedure
- Remove the hood. Refer to
Hood Replacement
.
- Remove the front bumper impact bar. Refer to Impact Bar Replacement
- Front Bumper in Bumpers.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly
Replacement in Engine Controls - 4.3L.
- Remove the windshield washer container. Refer to Windshield Washer
Container Replacement in Wipers Washer Systems.
- Remove the VCM. Refer to VCM Replacement/Reprogramming in Engine
Controls - 4.3L.
- Remove the VCM bracket. Refer to VCM Bracket Replacement in Engine
Controls - 4.3L.
- Disconnect the antenna cable from the power antenna assembly.
- Remove the left front headlamp assembly. Refer to Headlamp Replacement
in Lighting Systems.
- Remove the vacuum storage container from the fender.
- Remove the wiring harness from the fender.
- Disconnect the electrical connector to the power antenna, side
marker lamp, and the horn.
- Remove the bolts that retain the fender to the radiator support.
- Remove the bolt that retains the fender to the
radiator support.
- Remove the bolts that retain the fender to the cowl.
- Remove the bolts that retain the fender to the door hinge.
- Remove the bolts that retain the fender to the rocker panel.
- Remove the bolts that retain the fender to the
wheelhouse.
- Remove the fender from the vehicle.
- Remove the power antenna assembly from the fender. Refer to Power
Antenna Replacement in Entertainment.
- Remove the wheel opening flare from the fender. Refer Wheel Opening
Flare Replacement - Front in Exterior Trim.
- Remove the side marker lamp from the fender. Refer to Side Marker
Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
- Remove the wiring harness from the fender.
Installation Procedure
- Install the wiring harness from the fender.
- Install the side marker lamp to the fender. Refer to Side Marker
Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
- Install the wheel opening flare to the fender. Refer Wheel Opening
Flare Replacement - Front in Exterior Trim.
- Install the power antenna assembly to the fender. Refer to Power
Antenna Replacement in Entertainment.
- Install the fender to the vehicle.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts
that retain the fender to the wheelhouse.
Tighten
Tighten the Fender Bolts to 29 N·m (21 lb ft).
- Install the bolts that retain the fender to the
door hinge.
Tighten
Tighten the fender bolts to 29 N·m (21 lb ft).
- Install the bolts that retain the fender to the cowl.
Tighten
Tighten the fender bolts to 29 N·m (21 lb ft).
- Install the bolt that retains the fender to the rocker panel.
Tighten
Tighten the fender bolts to 29 N·m (21 lb ft).
- Install the bolts that retain the fender to the
radiator support.
Tighten
Tighten the fender bolts to 29 N·m (21 lb ft).
- Connect the electrical connector to the power antenna, side marker
lamp, and the horn.
- Install the wiring harness to the fender.
- Install the vacuum storage container to the fender.
- Install the left front headlamp assembly. Refer to Headlamp Replacement
in Lighting System.
- Connect the antenna cable to the power antenna assembly.
- Install the VCM bracket. Refer to VCM Bracket Replacement in Engine
Controls - 4.3L.
- Install the VCM. Refer to VCM Replacement/Reprogramming in Engine
Controls - 4.3L.
- Install the windshield washer container. Refer to Windshield Washer
Container Replacement in Wipers Washer Systems.
- Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly
Replacement in Engine Controls - 4.3L.
- Install the front bumper impact bar. Refer to Impact Bar Replacement
- Front Bumper in Bumpers.
- Install the hood. Refer to
Hood Replacement
.
Front Fender Replacement Right Side
Removal Procedure
- Remove the hood. Refer to
Hood Replacement
.
- Remove the front bumper impact bar. Refer to Impact Bar Replacement
- Front Bumper in Bumpers.
- Remove the right front headlamp assembly. Refer to Headlamp Replacement
in Lighting Systems.
- Remove the bolts retaining the underhood fuse block bracket to
the wheelhouse. Refer to Underhood Fuse Block Replacement in Engine Electrical.
- Remove the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
- Remove the wiring harness retainers from the fender.
- Remove the bolts retaining the ABS module bracket to the fender.
Refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Replacement in Antilock Brake System.
- Disconnect the electrical connector to the side repeater lamp
and the horn.
- Remove the bolts that retain the fender to the radiator support.
- Remove the bolt that retains the fender
to the radiator support.
- Remove the bolts that retain the fender to the cowl.
- Remove the bolts that retain the fender to the door hinge.
- Remove the bolts that retain the fender to the rocker panel.
- Remove the bolts that retain the fender
to the wheelhouse.
- Remove the fender from the vehicle.
- If replacing the fender, remove the following components from
the fender:
• | Remove the horn. Refer to Horn Replacement in Horns. |
• | Remove the wheel opening flare from the fender. Refer Wheel Opening
Flare Replacement - Front in Exterior Trim. |
• | Remove the side marker lamp from the fender. Refer to Side Repeater
Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems. |
• | Remove the wiring harness from the fender. |
Installation Procedure
- Install the following components to the
new fender if removed:
• | Install the horn. Refer to Horn Replacement in Horns. |
• | Install the wiring harness to the fender. |
• | Install the side marker lamp to the fender. Refer to Side Repeater
Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems. |
• | Install the wheel opening flare to the fender. Refer Wheel Opening
Flare Replacement - Front in Exterior Trim. |
- Install the fender to the vehicle.

Tighten the fender bolts to 29 N·m (21 lb ft).
- Connect the electrical connector to the side repeater lamp and
the horn.
- Install the bolts retaining the ABS module bracket to the fender.

- Install the wiring harness retainers to the fender.
- Install the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
- Install the bolts retaining the underhood fuse block bracket to
the wheelhouse. Refer to Underhood Fuse Block Replacement in Engine Electrical.
- Install the right front headlamp assembly. Refer to Headlamp Replacement
in Lighting System.
- Install the front bumper impact bar. Refer to Impact Bar Replacement
- Front Bumper in Bumpers.
- Install the hood. Refer to
