J 42738 Seal Installer

1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Remove the transfer case assembly. Refer to Transfer Case Assembly Replacement .

Important: When performing this service operation, use caution as not the damaged the sealing surface on the input shaft.

3. Remove the input shaft seal from the transfer case.

Important: When installing the input shaft seal, make sure that the part numbers on the seal are facing outward, toward the technician. The input shaft seal should be even with the surface of the transfer case after installation.

1. Position the seal on the input shaft.
2. Using theJ 42738 , install the input shaft seal.
3. Install the transfer case assembly. Refer to Transfer Case Assembly Replacement .
4. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
