Oil Pan Cleaning and Inspection 6.2L LS3


    Object Number: 1704630  Size: SH
  1. Remove the oil filter fitting (1), as required. Refer to Oil Filter Removal.

  2. Object Number: 1408875  Size: SH
  3. Clean the oil pan in solvent.
  4. Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning in the Preface section.

  5. Dry the oil pan with compressed air.
  6. Inspect the oil pan for the following conditions:
  7. • Damaged gasket surfaces (1)
    • Restrictions within the oil passages (2) of the pan
    • Damaged oil filter seal surface (3)
    • Threaded bolt holes (4) for damage

  1. Remove the oil filter fitting (438), as required.

  2. Object Number: 1552466  Size: SH
  3. Remove the oil pump suction pipe (407), bolts (405), and gasket (406).
  4. Discard the gasket (406).
  5. Clean the suction pipe and inspect for debris, restrictions, or other damage.

  6. Object Number: 1552467  Size: SH
  7. Clean the oil pan in solvent.
  8. Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning in the Preface section.

  9. Dry the oil pan with compressed air.
  10. Inspect the oil pan for the following conditions:
  11. • Damaged gasket surfaces (1)
    • Restrictions within the oil passages (2) of the pan
    • Damaged oil filter seal surface (3)
    • Threaded bolt holes (4) for damage

  12. Inspect the oil pan internal oil passages (1-4) for restrictions.

  14. Inspect the oil hose mating surfaces (1) for scoring or other damage.

  16. Inspect the oil pan plug (457) for a loose fit or leakage.
