A 1986 THM 125C transaxle may experience a harsh 1-2 upshift when hot during medium to hard throttle acceleration. Refer to Figure 1 for transaxle identification information and to chart below for models.
When servicing this condition on a THM 125C made between the serial numbers listed below, remove the spacer plate and measure the diameter of the 1-2 accumulator feedback orifice (refer to Figure 2 for location). If the hole is 1.02 MM (0.040 inch), replace the spacer plate with the indicated service spacer plate, which has a larger (3.18 MM/0.125 inch) 1-2 accumulator feedback orifice.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
