Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the console. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

  3. Disconnect the cable ends from the shifter.

    4. Object Number: 494463 Size: SH
  4. Remove the forward cable from the anchor.

    5. Object Number: 494499 Size: SH
  5. Remove the reverse cable from the anchor.

    6. Object Number: 494825 Size: SH
  6. On the transmission end, disconnect the forward cable end from the shift actuator.

    7. Object Number: 494775 Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the reverse cable from the shift actuator.

    8. Object Number: 494730 Size: SH
  8. Remove both cables from the underhood cable bracket.
  9. Position aside the passenger front carpet. Refer to Front Floor Panel Carpet Replacement in Interior Trim.

    10. Object Number: 494426 Size: SH
  10. Remove the rear floor duct elbow.

    11. Object Number: 494426 Size: SH
  11. Separate the grommet from the floor plan.
  12. Pull the cables through the passenger floor opening.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 494426 Size: SH
  1. Feed the cable assembly through the passenger floor pan opening.

    2. Object Number: 494624 Size: SH
  2. Install the grommet flush with the floor opening.

    3. Object Number: 494662 Size: SH
  3. Install the rear floor right side elbow duct.
  4. Position and install the passenger side carpet. Refer to Front Floor Panel Carpet Replacement in Interior Trim.

    5. Object Number: 494730 Size: SH
  5. Install the cables into the underhood bracket.

    6. Object Number: 494775 Size: SH
  6. Connect the reverse cable to the shift actuator.

    7. Object Number: 494825 Size: SH
  7. Connect the forward cable to the sift actuator.

    8. Object Number: 494499 Size: SH
  8. Install the reverse cable to the anchor.

    9. Object Number: 494463 Size: SH
  9. Install the forward cable to the anchor.

    10. Object Number: 494573 Size: SH
  10. Connect the cables to the shifter.
  11. Install the console. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  12. Connect the battery.
