Caution: 

   • Never drain or store fuel in an open container due to the possibility of fire or explosion.
   • When draining the fuel tank, slowly insert the hand operated pump device in the fuel tank. Do Not force the hand operated pump device in the fuel tank. Forcing the pump device can cause the fuel pump to dislocate from the fuel sender assembly.

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Loosen the fuel tank filler pipe cap.
  3. Raise the vehicle.
  4. Remove the fuel tank filler pipe EVAP pipe restraints.
  5. Clean the fuel tank filler pipe EVAP pipe connection and the surrounding area before disconnecting the fuel tank filler pipe EVAP pipe in order to avoid possible contamination of the fuel system.
  6. Loosen the fuel tank filler pipe EVAP pipe hose clamp.
  7. Wrap a shop towel around the fuel tank filler pipe EVAP pipe and slowly remove the fuel tank filler pipe EVAP pipe from the fuel tank EVAP pipe.
  8. Use a hand operated fuel pump device in order to drain the fuel through the fuel tank EVAP pipe.
  9. Reconnect the fuel tank filler pipe EVAP pipe and the fuel tank filler pipe EVAP pipe hose clamp.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Tighten the fuel tank filler pipe cap.
  12. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
