Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 12759  Size: SH
  1. Relieve fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining Procedure .
  3. Remove the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement for 2.2L or Fuel Tank Replacement for 2.4L.
  4. .

  5. Remove the fuel sender assembly. Refer to Fuel Sender Assembly Replacement .
  6. Note the strainer (1) position for future reference.

  7. Object Number: 54511  Size: SH
  8. Support the reservoir with one hand and grasp the strainer with the other hand.
  9. Use a screwdriver to pry the strainer ferrule off the reservoir.
  10. Discard the strainer.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 12759  Size: SH
  1. Support the reservoir with one hand and grasp the strainer (1) with the other hand twisting the strainer into position.
  2. Install the fuel sender assembly. Refer to Fuel Sender Assembly Replacement .
  3. Install the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement for 2.2L or Fuel Tank Replacement for 2.4L.
  4. .

  5. Refill tank.
  6. Install the negative battery cable.
  7. Inspect for fuel leaks through the following steps:
  8. 6.1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position for two seconds.
    6.2. Turn the ignition switch OFF position for ten seconds.
    6.3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    6.4. Check for fuel leaks.
