Removal Procedure

  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure .
  2. Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  3. Remove the negative battery cable.
  4. Remove the air cleaner outlet resonator. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Resonator Replacement .
  5. Remove the fuel rail bracket.
  6. Remove the fuel injector electrical connectors by pushing in the wire connector clip and pulling the electrical connector away from the fuel injector.
  7. Remove the fuel feed inlet pipe quick connect. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) .
  8. Remove the fuel return pipe from the fuel pressure regulator.
  9. Remove the fuel rail attaching bolts.
  10. Remove the fuel rail assembly from the cylinder head.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 143272  Size: SH
  1. Insert the fuel rail into the cylinder head.
  2. Install the fuel rail attaching bolts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel rail attaching bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  4. Install the fuel feed inlet pipe quick connect. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) .
  5. Install the fuel return pipe to the fuel pressure regulator.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel return pipe attaching nut to 30 N·m( 22 lb ft).

  7. Install the fuel injector electrical connectors.
  8. Install the fuel rail bracket.
  9. Tighten

    1. Tighten the fuel rail bracket nut (4) to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
    2. Tighten the fuel rail bracket nut (3) to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
    3. Tighten the fuel rail bracket bolt (2) to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
  11. Inspect for fuel leaks through the following steps:
  12. 8.1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position for two seconds.
    8.2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position for ten seconds.
    8.3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    8.4. Check for fuel leaks.
