Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement 2.2L

Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 39500-B R-134a Refrigerant Recovery, Recycling and Recharging (ACR4) System

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .

  2. Object Number: 302598  Size: SH
  3. Switch the connection on the discharge line.
  4. Remove the cruise control module, if equipped.
  5. Disconnect the accumulator to compressor suction line at the accumulator (1).
  6. Remove the upper closeout panel.
  7. Disconnect the connection at the condenser (3).
  8. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  9. Block the fitting at the rear head of the compressor (4).
  10. Important: Remove and discard the following components:

       • The used O-ring seals
       • The sealing washers

  11. Remove the compressor/condenser hose assembly (2).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 302598  Size: SH
  1. Install the compressor/condenser hose assembly (2).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Use the new sealing washers in order to block the fitting to the rear head of the compressor (4). Refer to O-Ring/Flat Washer Description .
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  5. Lower the vehicle.
  6. Connect the suction line at the accumulator (1). Use a new O-ring seal.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Connect the connection at the condenser (3). Use a new O-ring seal.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  10. Switch the connection on the discharge line.
  11. Install the cruise control module, if equipped.
  12. Install the upper closeout panel.
  13. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  14. Perform the system check. Refer to Functional Check .
  15. Perform the leak test. Refer to Leak Testing .

Removal Procedure

Tools Required

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .

  2. Object Number: 302600  Size: SH
  3. Switch the connection on the discharge line.
  4. Remove the cruise control module, if equipped.
  5. Disconnect the accumulator to compressor suction line at the accumulator (1).
  6. Remove the upper closeout panel.
  7. Disconnect the connection at the condenser (4).
  8. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  9. Block the fitting at the rear head of the compressor (3).
  10. Important: Remove and discard the following components:

       • The used O-ring seals
       • The sealing washers

  11. Remove the compressor/condenser hose assembly (2).

  6. Install the suction line at the accumulator (1) using a new O-ring seal.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Connect the connection at the condenser (4). Use a new O-ring seal.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  10. Switch the connection on the discharge line.
  11. Install the cruise control module.
  12. Install the upper closeout panel.
  13. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  14. Perform the system check.
  15. Perform the leak test. Refer to Leak Testing .
