O-Rings
Important: Install the new GM approved service replacement air conditioning O-rings
to the following disassembled components (except when the new O-rings are
provided with the new components):
Even though an O-ring may look the same, ensure that you use only the
recommended service replacement O-rings. Excessive leakage of refrigerant
may occur.
Always lubricate the O-ring using 525 viscosity refrigerant mineral
oil. Slip the O-ring onto the flange tube in order to ensure the following
conditions:
Do not lubricate the O-rings using PAG refrigerant oil in order to prevent
the following conditions:
• | A reduction in sealing effectiveness |
Prior to installation, verify that the O-rings and the fittings are
not in the following condition:
Replace the O-rings or fittings that are in the following condition:
Failure to use the following service requirements may result in excessive
refrigerant-leakage:
• | The proper service replacement parts |
• | The proper service replacement procedures |
Sealing Washers
When servicing a fitting that utilizes sealing washers, note the following
steps:
- When installing sealing
washers, keep foreign material from getting on the following surfaces:
- Clean all of the sealing surfaces using a lint-free rag.
- Do not reuse a sealing washer.
- You do not need to lubricate a sealing washer prior to assembly.
- Install the sealing washer
onto the block fitting. Ensure that the washers bottom against the surface
of the block fitting.
- Hold the block fitting in position. Ensure that the sealing washers
are seated.
