Observe the THEFT SYSTEM indicator.

The THEFT SYSTEM indicator is illuminated.

Turn the ignition switch to RUN.

The SDL Monitor Mode displays the following settings:

Instrument Cluster to PCM

    • The VTD Moding function is NOT SET.
    • The Reverse Rotate function is INACTIVE.
    • The VTD Password function indicates NOT RECEIVE.

PCM to Instrument Cluster

    • The VTD Acknowledge function indicates NO.
    • The VTD Tamper function is INACTIVE.
    • The Reference Sync function indicates NOT SYNC.

For automatic transaxle, place the gear selector in PARK.

For manual transaxle, depress the clutch pedal in order to close the clutch start switch.

The THEFT SYSTEM indicator is illuminated.

Turn the ignition switch to START.

    • The engine cranks.
    • The SDL Monitor Mode displays the following settings:

Instrument Cluster to PCM

      • The VTD Moding function is NOT SET.
      • The Reverse Rotate function is ACTIVE.
      • The VTD Password function indicates NOT RECEIVE.

PCM to Instrument Cluster

      • The VTD Acknowledge function indicates NO.
      • The VTD Tamper function is INACTIVE.
      • The Reference Sync function indicates NOT SYNC.

After the engine starts, turn the ignition switch to RUN.

    • The engine runs.
    • The THEFT SYSTEM indicator turns off.
    • The SDL Monitor Mode displays the following settings:

Instrument Cluster to PCM

      • The VTD Moding function is SET.
      • The Reverse Rotate function is INACTIVE.
      • The VTD Password function indicates RECEIVE.

PCM to Instrument Cluster

      • The VTD Acknowledge function indicates YES.
      • The VTD Tamper function is INACTIVE.
      • The Reference Sync function indicates SYNC.

Turn the ignition switch to OFF.

    • The engine stops.
    • There is no UART communication.
