GM Service Manual Online
For 1990-2009 cars only

All coupe body styles are equipped with bucket seats. The bucket seats contain a manual lock system. Manually release the seat back as desired in order to provide easier access to the rear seat. The manual lock system is part of the recliner mechanism. The recliner mechanism mounts on the outboard side of the front seat.

The manually operated front adjusters provide forward and rearward movement of the seat. Actuating the seat control lever unlocks the seat adjusters. This permits travel of the seat. The seat locks into place under the following conditions:

    • The seat is in the desired position.
    • The seat control lever is released.

The driver's seat buckle side belt attaches to the seat adjuster assembly. The driver's seat is a load bearing seat.
