Makes 🢒 Chevrolet 🢒 1999 🢒 Cavalier 🢒 Transmission/Transaxle 🢒 Automatic Transaxle - 3T40 🢒 Low and Reverse Pipes and Cup Plug Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the oil pan, filter, and the seal. Refer to Automatic Transmission Fluid and Filter Replacement .

    3. Object Number: 104242 Size: SH
  3. Remove the reverse oil pipe.

    4. Object Number: 104244 Size: SH
  4. Remove the back-up ring seal.
  5. Remove the reverse pipe to case O-ring.

    6. Object Number: 104247 Size: SH
  6. Remove the low and reverse cup plug assembly. Use the screw extractor.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 16396 Size: SH
  1. Use a drift pin and a mallet in order to install the low and reverse cup plug seal (120) into the case. Seat the seal (120) fully against the low and reverse clutch piston housing.

    2. Object Number: 104244 Size: SH
  2. Install the reverse pipe to case O-ring.
  3. Install the new back up ring seal.

    4. Object Number: 104242 Size: SH
  4. Install the reverse oil pipe.
  5. Install the oil pan filter and the seal. Refer to Automatic Transmission Fluid and Filter Replacement
  6. Install the oil pan and the gasket.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Inspect the transmission oil level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check .
