Important: A short to ground will cause an open fuse(s). Before performing this diagnostic procedure, inspect the fuse(s) for an open.

  1. Disconnect the Multi-function alarm module harness connectors.
  2. Open the inoperative door.
  3. If the driver side door is inoperative, use the J 39200 Digital Mutlimeter (DMM) in order to measure the voltage between terminal D of the multi-function alarm module harness connector C2 and terminal H of the multi-function alarm module harness connector C1.
  4. If the passenger side door is inoperative, use the J 39200 DMM in order to measure the voltage between terminal D of the multi-function alarm module harness connector C2 and terminal G of the multi-function alarm module harness connector C1.

Does the voltage measured equal the specified value?

B+

Go to Step 2

  1. Close the inoperative door.
  2. If the driver side door is inoperative, use a J 39200 DMM in order to measure the voltage between terminal D of the multi-function alarm module harness connector C2 and terminal H of the multi-function alarm module harness connector C1.
  3. If the passenger side door is inoperative, use a J 39200 DMM in order to measure the voltage between terminal D of the multi-function alarm module harness connector C2 and terminal G of the multi-function alarm module harness connector C1.

Does the voltage equal the specified value?

B+

Go to Step 4

  1. Reconnect the multi-function alarm module harness connectors.
  2. If the driver side door is inoperative, use the J 39200 DMM in order to backprobe the multi-function alarm module between terminal H of connector C1 and ground. Measure the voltage.
  3. If the passenger side door is inoperative, use the J 39200 DMM in order to backprobe the multi-function alarm module between terminal G of connector C1 and the ground and measure the voltage.

Does the voltage measured equal the specified value?

B+

Go to Step 6

  1. Use the J 39200 DMM in order to backprobe the multi-function alarm module between terminal F of connector C2 and the ground.
  2. Measure the voltage.

  1. Use the J 39200 DMM in order to backprobe the inoperative door jamb switch between terminal A and the ground.
  2. Measure the voltage.

  1. Use the J 39200 DMM in order to backprobe the inoperative door jamb switch between terminal A and the ground.
  2. Measure the voltage.

  1. Use the J 39200 DMM in order to backprobe the dome lamp between terminal A (uplevel) of terminal B (base and sunroof) and ground.
  2. Measure the voltage.

Replace the multifunction alarm module.

    • If the driver side door is inoperative, repair the short to the ground in CKT 394, between the multifunction alarm module and the inoperative door jamb switch.
    • If the passenger side door is inoperative, repair the short to ground in CKT 395, between the multi-function alarm module and the inoperative door jamb switch.
        Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Use the J 39200 DMM in order to backprobe the inoperative door jamb switch between terminal B and ground.
  2. Measure the voltage.

    • If the driver side door is inoperative, repair the open in CKT 394, between the multi-function alarm module and the inoperative door jamb switch.
    • If the passenger side door is inoperative, repair the open in CKT 395, between the multi-function alarm module and the inoperative door jamb switch.
        Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Repair the open in CKT 156, between the dome lamp and the multi-function alarm module. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in CKT 1732, between the multi-function alarm module and the dome lamp. Refer to Wiring Repair Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

    • If the driver side door is inoperative, repair the open in CKT 150, between the inoperative door jamb switch and ground.
    • If the passenger side door is inoperative, repair the open in CKT 250, between the inoperative door jamb switch and ground.
         Refer to Wiring Repair Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
