The following components are located in the steering column assembly on the right side, just below the steering wheel:

    • The mechanical key
    • The lock cylinder

The ignition switch is located below the left side of the steering column. The electrical switching portion of the assembly is separate from the key and lock cylinder. The key and lock cylinder are synchronized. The components work in conjunction through the action of the actuator rod assembly. The ignition switch grounds CKT 1350 while the ignition switch is in START. This signal is called the Cranklow Signal. The Cranklow input signal allows the instrument cluster to start a timing window during which the Passlockā„¢ lock cylinder must transmit the correct R-Code.
