Important: A short to ground will cause an open fuse(s). Before performing this diagnostic procedure, inspect the fuse(s) for an open.

  1. Disconnect the cruise control module connector.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  3. Hold the cruise control switch in the RESUME/ACCEL position.
  4. Measure the voltage between terminal C of the cruise control module harness connector and ground using a J 39200 Digital Multimeter (DMM).

Does the voltage measured equal the specified value?

B+

Go to Step 2

Replace the cruise control module. Refer to Cruise Control Module Replacement in Cruise Control

Is the repair complete?

  1. Hold the cruise control switch in the RESUME/ACCEL position.
  2. Backprobe the turn/hazard headlamp switch assembly connector C3 using a J 39200 DMM.
  3. Measure the voltage between terminal C and ground.

Does the voltage measured equal the specified value?

B+

Go to Step 4

Repair the open in CKT 87 between the turn/hazard headlamp switch assembly and the cruise control module. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the turn/hazard headlamp switch assembly. Refer to Cruise Control Switch Replacement in Cruise Control .
