J 33373 Shim Selector Kit
- Position the outer bearing races in order
to engage the following components:
• | The differential bearing |
- Position the shim selection gauges (kit J 33373
)
on the bearing races of the following parts:
• | The output bearing J 33373-2 |
• | The differential bearing J 33373-3 |
- Place the seven spacers provided with the J 33373
evenly around the perimeter of the clutch housing.
- Install the bearing, the snap ring and the shim retainer on the
transaxle case.
- Apply threadlocker GM P/N 12345382 or equivalent to the threads
of the seven shim retainer screws and install with Torx™ (no. 45)
on the transaxle case.
- Install the bearing and shim retainer screws.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
- Carefully position the transaxle case
over the gauges and on the spacers.
- Alternately install the seven bolts provided with the tool kit
until the case is seated on the spacers.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 13 N·m (115 lb in).
- Rotate each of the gauges in order to seat the bearings. Rotate
the differential case through three revolutions in each direction.
- With the gauges compressed, measure the gap between the outer
sleeve and the base pad using the available shim sizes.
• | For the differential, use a shim three sizes larger than that
which will smoothly fit into the gap. |
• | For the output shaft, use the largest shim that can be placed
into the gap and drawn through without binding. |
- When the two shims have been selected, remove the transaxle case,
the seven spacers and the three gauges.
- Position the shim selected for the following parts into the bearing
race bores in the transaxle case:
