ENGINE STALLS WHILE ENGAGING IN REVERSE OR DRIVE

Model and Year: 1987-88 MODELS WITH THM 125C TRANSAXLES

A new design auxiliary valve body incorporating a new filter in the TCC feed passage entered production March 9, 1987, (Julian Date 068, Figure 1). The new valve body and filter will reduce the potential of TCC solenoid sticking and the resulting condition of engine stall while shifting into reverse or drive.

The new auxiliary valve body (Figure 2 and 3), is not interchangeable with models built prior to Julian Date 068. The past design auxiliary valve bodies are not machined to allow for installation of the new filter.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
