Some 1986-88 Celebrity models equipped with wire wheel covers may exhibit a creaking/clicking type noise while being driven.
Current production and service covers have been modified to eliminate this noise. Modified covers were put into production October 1987.
If this type noise is experienced and has been determined to come from the covers, the following procedure should be followed:
1. Insure that the cover is installed properly, especially that the retention bolt is securely fastened.
2. Switch cover to another wheel.
3. If this does not work replace the cover with a cover from GMSPO.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
