RADIO REMOVAL DIFFICULT FROM INSTRUMENT PANEL

MODEL AND YEAR: 1987 CELEBRITY

For the 1987 model year there have been some changes to the Celebrity instrument panel design, which may make removal of the radio receiver more difficult than in the past.

There are two tabs on the right hand instrument panel trim pad which may partially cover the radio mounting bracket and screws. (See illustration) If it becomes necessary to remove the radio, wedge a stiff putty knife or similar tool between the radio bracket and the tabs and push the tabs to the right. This will allow access to the screws and easier radio removal.

If needed, refer to the 1987 Celebrity Service Manual for the existing radio removal procedure.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
