Exhaust Manifold Installation Left

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

1. Install the exhaust manifold studs (1) (if required).

Tighten
Tighten the exhaust manifold studs (1) to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

2. Install the new exhaust manifold gasket (2).
3. Install the exhaust manifold (3).
4. Install the exhaust manifold nuts (4) and center bolt (5).

Tighten

1. Tighten the exhaust manifold nuts (4) to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
2. Tighten the exhaust manifold center bolt (5) to 54 N·m (40 lb ft).



5. Install the spark plug heat shield.
6. Install the spark plug heat shield nuts.

Tighten
Tighten the spark plug heat shield nuts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

7. Install the spark plug wires onto the spark plugs.

1. Install the exhaust manifold studs (1).

Tighten
Tighten the exhaust manifold studs (1) to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

2. Install the new exhaust manifold gasket (2).
3. Install the exhaust manifold (3).
4. Install the exhaust manifold nuts (4) and center bolt (5).

Tighten

1. Tighten the exhaust manifold nuts (4) to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
2. Tighten the exhaust manifold center bolt (5) to 54 N·m (40 lb ft).



5. Install the spark plug heat shield.
6. Install the spark plug heat shield nuts.

Tighten
Tighten the spark plug heat shield nuts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

7. Install the spark plug wires onto the spark plugs.
