Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 797591  Size: SH
  1. Remove the clutch cable retainer.
  2. Remove the clutch cable from the clutch pedal.

  3. Object Number: 797593  Size: SH
  4. Remove the clutch cable retainer.
  5. Remove the clutch cable from the bracket.
  6. Route the clutch cable through the front of dash.
  7. Raise and suitably support the vehicle, if required. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  8. Object Number: 797594  Size: SH
  9. Remove the clutch cable nuts, bolts, and washers.

  10. Object Number: 796414  Size: SH
  11. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and regular production options (RPOs) MPU/MSC and MWW, remove the clutch fork return spring.

  12. Object Number: 796416  Size: SH
  13. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and RPOs MK0/MM7 and MWW, remove the clutch fork return spring.

  14. Object Number: 796415  Size: SH
  15. If equipped with the 8.1L engine, and RPOs MPU/MSC and MWX, remove the clutch fork return spring.

  16. Object Number: 796418  Size: SH
  17. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and RPOs MK0/MM7 and MWW, remove the clutch pedal adjustment rod swivel retainer (3).
  18. Remove the clutch pedal adjustment rod swivel (1) from the lever.
  19. Remove the clutch cable retainer (2).
  20. Remove the clutch cable nuts (5), washers (4), and swivel (1) from the cable.
  21. Remove the clutch cable from the vehicle.

  23. If equipped with RPOs MPU/MSC, remove the clutch cable retainer nuts (1).
  24. Remove the clutch cable retainer (2) from the cable.
  25. Remove the clutch cable retainer (3).
  26. Remove the clutch cable from the vehicle.
  27. Adjust the clutch control cable. Refer to Clutch Control Cable Adjustment .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 796417  Size: SH
  1. Install the clutch cable to the vehicle.
  2. If equipped with RPOs MPU/MSC, install the clutch cable retainer (3).
  3. Install the clutch cable retainer (2) to the cable.
  4. Install the clutch cable retainer nuts (1).

  5. Object Number: 796418  Size: SH
  6. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and RPOs MK0/MM7 and MWW, install the clutch cable swivel (1), washers (4), and nuts (5) to the cable.
  7. Install the clutch cable retainer (2).
  8. Install the clutch pedal adjustment rod swivel (1) to the lever.
  9. Install the clutch pedal adjustment rod swivel retainer (3).

  11. If equipped with the 8.1L engine, and RPOs MPU/MSC and MWX, install the clutch fork return spring.

  12. Object Number: 796416  Size: SH
  13. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and RPOs MK0/MM7 and MWW, install the clutch fork return spring.

  14. Object Number: 796414  Size: SH
  15. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and RPOs MPU/MSC and MWW, install the clutch fork return spring.

  16. Object Number: 797594  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  17. Install the clutch cable bolts, washers, and nuts.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 13 N·m (115 lb in).

  19. Lower the vehicle, if required.

  21. Route the clutch cable through the front of dash.
  22. Install the clutch cable to the bracket.
  23. Install the clutch cable retainer.

  24. Object Number: 797591  Size: SH
  25. Install the clutch cable to the clutch pedal.
  26. Install the clutch cable retainer.
  27. Adjust the clutch cable. Refer to Clutch Control Cable Adjustment .
