Removal Procedure
- Remove the clutch cable
retainer.
- Remove the clutch cable from the clutch pedal.
- Remove the clutch cable
retainer.
- Remove the clutch cable from the bracket.
- Route the clutch cable through the front of dash.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle, if required. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the clutch cable
nuts, bolts, and washers.
- If equipped with the 6.6L
or 7.2L engine, and regular production options (RPOs) MPU/MSC and MWW, remove
the clutch fork return spring.
- If equipped with the 6.6L
or 7.2L engine, and RPOs MK0/MM7 and MWW, remove the clutch fork return spring.
- If equipped with the 8.1L
engine, and RPOs MPU/MSC and MWX, remove the clutch fork return spring.
- If equipped with the 6.6L
or 7.2L engine, and RPOs MK0/MM7 and MWW, remove the clutch pedal adjustment
rod swivel retainer (3).
- Remove the clutch pedal adjustment rod swivel (1) from the lever.
- Remove the clutch cable retainer (2).
- Remove the clutch cable nuts (5), washers (4), and swivel (1)
from the cable.
- Remove the clutch cable from the vehicle.
- If equipped with RPOs
MPU/MSC, remove the clutch cable retainer nuts (1).
- Remove the clutch cable retainer (2) from the cable.
- Remove the clutch cable retainer (3).
- Remove the clutch cable from the vehicle.
- Adjust the clutch control cable. Refer to
Clutch Control Cable Adjustment
.
Installation Procedure
- Install the clutch cable
to the vehicle.
- If equipped with RPOs MPU/MSC, install the clutch cable retainer
(3).
- Install the clutch cable retainer (2) to the cable.
- Install the clutch cable retainer nuts (1).
- If equipped with the 6.6L
or 7.2L engine, and RPOs MK0/MM7 and MWW, install the clutch cable swivel
(1), washers (4), and nuts (5) to the cable.
- Install the clutch cable retainer (2).
- Install the clutch pedal adjustment rod swivel (1) to the lever.
- Install the clutch pedal adjustment rod swivel retainer (3).
- If equipped with the 8.1L
engine, and RPOs MPU/MSC and MWX, install the clutch fork return spring.
- If equipped with the 6.6L
or 7.2L engine, and RPOs MK0/MM7 and MWW, install the clutch fork return spring.
- If equipped with the 6.6L
or 7.2L engine, and RPOs MPU/MSC and MWW, install the clutch fork return spring.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the clutch
cable bolts, washers, and nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 13 N·m (115 lb in).
- Lower the vehicle, if required.
- Route the clutch cable
through the front of dash.
- Install the clutch cable to the bracket.
- Install the clutch cable retainer.
- Install the clutch cable
to the clutch pedal.
- Install the clutch cable retainer.
- Adjust the clutch cable. Refer to
Clutch Control Cable Adjustment
.
