Important: The clutch housing is only serviceable with the 8.1L engine equipped with regular production options (RPOs) MPU/MSC.

1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle, if required. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Remove the clutch release bearing. Refer to Release Bearing Replacement .
3. Remove the flywheel housing cover extension bolts, bracket, caution tag, and extension.



4. Remove the flywheel housing cover bolts and cover, if necessary.



5. Remove the transmission bolts.



6. Remove the flywheel housing adapter bolts and adapter, if necessary.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

1. Install the flywheel housing adapter and bolts, if necessary.

Tighten
Tighten the flywheel housing adapter bolts to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).




2. Install the transmission bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the transmission bolts to 142 N·m (105 lb ft).




3. Install the flywheel housing cover and bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the flywheel housing cover bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).




4. Install the flywheel housing cover extension, caution tag, bracket, and bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the flywheel housing cover extension bolts to 43 N·m (32 lb ft).

5. Install the clutch release bearing. Refer to Release Bearing Replacement .
6. Lower the vehicle, if required.
