Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 792167  Size: SH
  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle, if required. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the clutch fork return spring.

  3. Object Number: 792233  Size: SH
  4. Remove the clutch cable retainer nuts (2).
  5. Remove the clutch cable retainer (1) from the cable.
  6. Remove the clutch cable retainer (3).
  7. Remove the clutch cable from the clutch fork.

  8. Object Number: 793838  Size: SH
  9. Remove the clutch fork boot bolts.
  10. Remove the clutch fork retainer and boot.

  11. Object Number: 792320  Size: SH
  12. Remove the flywheel housing cover bolts and cover.

  13. Object Number: 793839  Size: SH
  14. Using a pry bar, remove the clutch fork from the flywheel housing ball stud.
  15. Remove the clutch fork.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 793839  Size: SH
  1. Install the clutch fork.
  2. Lubricate the ball stud using GM P/N 12378484 or equivalent.
  3. Install the clutch fork over the release bearing.
  4. Install the clutch fork to the flywheel housing ball stud.

  5. Object Number: 792320  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the flywheel housing cover and bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the flywheel housing cover bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  8. Install the clutch fork retainer and boot.
  9. Install the clutch fork boot bolts.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the clutch fork boot bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  11. Route the clutch cable through the clutch fork.
  12. Install the clutch cable retainer (3).
  13. Install the clutch cable retainer (1) to the cable.
  14. Install the clutch cable retainer nuts (2).

  15. Object Number: 792167  Size: SH
  16. Install the clutch fork return spring.
  17. Adjust the clutch cable. Refer to Clutch Control Cable Adjustment .
  18. Lower the vehicle, if required.
