Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 796414 Size: SH
  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle, if required. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and regular production options (RPOs) MPU/MSC and MWW, remove the clutch fork return spring.

  3. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and RPOs MK0/MM7 and MWW, remove the clutch cable return spring.

    4. Object Number: 796415 Size: SH
  4. If equipped with the 8.1L engine, and RPOs MPU/MSC and MWX, remove the clutch fork return spring.

    5. Object Number: 793540 Size: SH
  5. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and the Eaton® 14 inch clutch, remove the engine mount rear bolts and washers.
  6. Remove the clutch lever and clutch fork spring brackets.

    7. Object Number: 797937 Size: SH
  7. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and the Valeo® 14 inch clutch, remove the engine mount rear bolts and washers.
  8. Remove the clutch fork spring bracket.

  9. If equipped with the 8.1L engine, and the Valeo® 13 inch clutch, remove the clutch fork return spring bracket bolt and bracket.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 798080 Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. If equipped with the 8.1L engine, and the Valeo® 13 inch clutch, install the clutch fork return spring bracket and bolt.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the clutch fork return spring bracket bolt to 43 N·m (32 lb ft).

  2. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and the Valeo® 14 inch clutch, install the clutch fork return spring bracket.
  3. Install the engine rear mount bolts and washers.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the engine rear mount bolts 142 N·m (105 lb ft).

  4. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and the Eaton® 14 inch clutch, install the clutch lever and return spring brackets.
  5. Install the engine rear mount bolts and washers.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the engine rear mount bolts to 142 N·m (105 lb ft).

  6. If equipped with the 8.1L engine, and RPOs MPU/MSC and MWX, install the clutch fork return spring.

    7. Object Number: 796416 Size: SH
  7. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and RPO MK0/MM7 and MWW, install the clutch cable return spring.

    8. Object Number: 796414 Size: SH
  8. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and RPOs MPU/MSC and MWW, install the clutch fork return spring.
  9. Lower the vehicle, if required.
