Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 796414  Size: SH
  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle, if required. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and regular production options (RPOs) MPU/MSC and MWW, remove the clutch fork return spring.

  3. Object Number: 796416  Size: SH
  4. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and RPOs MK0/MM7 and MWW, remove the clutch cable return spring.

  5. Object Number: 796415  Size: SH
  6. If equipped with the 8.1L engine, and RPOs MPU/MSC and MWX, remove the clutch fork return spring.

  7. Object Number: 796417  Size: SH
  8. If equipped with RPOs MPU/MSC, remove the clutch cable retainer nuts (1).
  9. Remove the clutch cable retainer nut (2).
  10. Remove the clutch cable retainer (3).
  11. Remove the clutch cable from the clutch fork and bracket.

  13. If equipped with RPOs MK0/MM7, remove the clutch pedal adjustment rod retainer (3).
  14. Remove the clutch pedal adjustment rod swivel (1) from the lever.
  15. Remove the clutch cable retainer (2).
  16. Remove the clutch cable nuts (5), washers (4), and swivel (1) from the cable.

  17. Object Number: 793699  Size: SH
  18. If equipped with RPOs MK0/MM7, remove the clutch cable bracket bolts and washers.

  19. Object Number: 793697  Size: SH
  20. If equipped with RPOs MPU/MSC, remove the clutch cable bracket bolts and washers.
  21. Remove the clutch cable bracket from the transmission.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 793697  Size: SH
  1. Install the clutch cable bracket to the transmission.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. If equipped with RPOs MPU/MSC, install the clutch cable bracket bolts and washers.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the clutch cable bracket bolts to 93 N·m (69 lb ft).

  5. If equipped with RPOs MK0/MM7, install the clutch cable bracket bolts and washers.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the clutch cable bracket bolts to 93 N·m (69 lb ft).

  7. If equipped with RPOs MK0/MM7, install the swivel (1), washers (4), and clutch cable nuts (5) to the cable.
  8. Install the clutch cable retainer (2).
  9. Install the clutch pedal adjustment rod swivel (1) to the lever.
  10. Install the clutch pedal adjustment rod retainer (3).

  12. If equipped with RPOs MPU/MSC, install the clutch cable to the clutch fork and bracket.
  13. Install the clutch cable retainer (3).
  14. Install the clutch cable retainer nut (2).
  15. Install the clutch cable retainer nuts (1).

  16. Object Number: 796415  Size: SH
  17. If equipped with the 8.1L engine, and RPOs MPU/MSC and MWX, install the clutch fork return spring.

  18. Object Number: 796416  Size: SH
  19. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and RPOs MK0/MM7 and MWW, install the clutch cable return spring.

  20. Object Number: 796414  Size: SH
  21. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and RPOs MPU/MSC and MWW, install the clutch fork return spring.
  22. Adjust the clutch cable. Refer to Clutch Control Cable Adjustment
  23. Lower the vehicle, if required.
