Radiator Surge Tank
A radiator surge tank is used on all P12 Motorhome Chassis. The plastic
surge tank is mounted on the top of the radiator support. There are two
main differences between a coolant recovery reservoir and a radiator surge
tank:
- A radiator surge tank is designed to hold up to 110 kPa
(16 psi) of pressure. The coolant recovery reservoir is only capable
of withstanding 14 kPa (2 psi).
- A radiator surge tank is designed for constant coolant flow between
the tank and the radiator. The coolant recovery reservoir is designed to
handle overflow from the radiator only.
