The die-cast pump is a centrifugal vane impeller type. The impeller turns on a steel shaft that rotates in a permanently lubricated ball bearing.
The pump inlet connects to the bottom of the radiator by a rubber hose. Coolant passes from the pump through the engine front cover and into the coolant passages in the block. The coolant is circulated through the block and radiator in order to maintain the correct engine operating temperature.
