Removal Procedure

  1. Set the parking brake.

  2. Object Number: 241590  Size: SH
  3. Remove the retainer.
  4. Remove the pushrod.
  5. Remove the stoplamp switch connector and the actuator.

  6. Object Number: 241585  Size: SH
  7. Remove the nut that secures the brake pedal pin bolt to the support.
  8. Remove the brake pedal pin bolt and the brake pedal pin.
  9. Remove the bushings and the return spring from the pedal.
  10. Inspect the bushings for wear or deterioration. Replace the bushings if necessary.

  12. Remove the brake pedal, and cover, if required.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 241631  Size: SH
  1. Install a new brake pedal cover, if required.
  2. Lubricate the pivot points and both ends of the return spring with GM lubricant P/N 1050109.

  3. Object Number: 241585  Size: SH
  4. Install the brake pedal with the pin and the bushings.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the brake pedal pin bolt.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the brake pedal pin nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  8. Install the stoplamp switch actuator.
  9. Install the pushrod.
  10. Install the retainer.
  11. Install the return spring to the pedal.

  12. Object Number: 241629  Size: SH
  13. Install the stoplamp switch connector to the actuator.
