Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 258705  Size: SH
  1. Set the parking brake and block the drive wheels.
  2. Remove the brace between the master cylinder and the dash panel.

  3. Object Number: 241394  Size: SH
  4. Use a suitable container under the master cylinder in order to catch the fluid drips.
  5. Remove the hydraulic pipes from the master cylinder.
  6. Cap or plug the hydraulic pipes.

  7. Object Number: 241571  Size: SH
  8. Remove the mounting nuts.
  9. Remove the master cylinder.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 241571  Size: SH
  1. Refer to Master Cylinder Bench Bleeding in order to install the master cylinder.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the mounting nuts except for the brace nut.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the mounting nuts to 36 N·m (27 lb ft).

  5. Install the master cylinder end of the brace by loosely installing the nut.

  6. Object Number: 241394  Size: SH
  7. Install the hydraulic pipe fittings to the master cylinder.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fittings to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  9. Completely install the brace between the master cylinder and the dash panel.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the nut and the screw to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

    Caution: After releasing the parking brake, be sure the vehicle will not roll forward or backwards when removing the wheel blocks. If the vehicle is not in gear, the vehicle may move possibly causing personal injury.

  11. Release the parking brake.
  12. Bleed the brakes. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
  13. Remove the wheel blocks.
