Removal Procedure

    Notice: The EH pump operates on power steering fluid only. Do not service the EH pump in any brake servicing area. Be sure hands are clean of all brake fluid. Contamination can cause swelling and deterioration of rubber parts, brake damage, and the eventual loss of braking capability.

  1. Block the vehicle wheels.

  2. Object Number: 241591  Size: SH
  3. Remove the booster assembly. Refer to Power Brake Booster Replacement .
  4. Remove the pump mounting bolts and washers.

  5. Object Number: 241625  Size: SH
  6. Position a suitable container in order to catch the fluid.
  7. Remove the EH pump.
  8. Remove the pump seals. Discard the pump seals.
  9. Remove the relief valve and the spring.

Installation Procedure

Important: The pump assembly can be incorrectly installed. Install the pump motor with the delivery port closed to the input push rod end of the booster housing.

  1. Install the relief valve.
  2. Install the spring.
  3. Install the seals.
  4. Install the EH pump.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the pump mounting bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 29 N·m (21 lb ft).

  8. Install the booster assembly. Refer to Power Brake Booster Replacement .
  9. Fill the power steering reservoir. Refer to Approximate Fluid Capacities in Maintenance and Lubrication.
  10. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  11. Inspect for the proper brake operation.
  12. Remove the wheel blocks.
