Important: 

   • Do not run the vehicle if the fluid reservoir is empty.
   • Ensure that only recommended fluid is used. Refer to Fluid Specifications .

  1. Inspect the fluid level and inspect the fluid condition.
  2. If may be necessary to perform the following if other fluid is evident:
  3. 2.1. Remove the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
    2.2. Remove the steering gear. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .
    2.3. Inspect the pump.
    2.4. Inspect the gear.
  4. Clean all the suspected areas thoroughly before inspecting if the leak is not obvious.
  5. Inspect the hoses for cuts.
  6. Inspect the hoses for loose clamps.
  7. Inspect the hoses for loose fittings at the pump.
  8. Inspect the hoses for loose fittings at the gear.
  9. Inspect the lines for cuts.
  10. Inspect the lines for loose clamps.
  11. Inspect the lines for loose fittings at the pump.
  12. Inspect the lines for loose fittings at the gear.
  13. The point where fluid is dripping is not necessarily the point where the system is leaking. Identify the exact point of the leak. Refer to External Leakage Check .
