Tools Required

1. Remove the upper and lower shrouds. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement - Off Vehicle .



2. Remove the bearing retainer (3) using J 23653 and J 42137.
3. Remove the shaft lock shield assembly (2).
4. Remove the turn signal cancel cam assembly (1).
5. Remove the upper bearing spring (6).
6. Remove the upper bearing inner race (5).
7. Remove the inner race (4).

Tools Required

1. Install the inner race (3).
2. Install the upper bearing inner race seat (4).
3. Install the upper bearing spring (1).
4. Install the turn signal cancel cam assembly (2). Lubricate with synthetic grease.



5. Center the race & upper shaft assembly (1) to the 12 o'clock position.



6. Install the shaft lock shield assembly (2).
7. Install the bearing retainer (1) using tools J 23653-SIR and J 42137. Bearing retainer must be firmly seated in the groove on the race & upper shaft assembly (3).
8. Install upper & lower shrouds. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement - Off Vehicle .
