Check the operation of the daytime running lamps (DRL).

Repair the DRL. Refer to Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) Headlamps Inoperative .

Inspect the GAUGES fuse in the fuse block.

Is the GAUGES fuse open?

Inspect and repair the source of the overload in CKT 39 (PNK).

Is the repair complete?

System OK

  1. Disconnect the instrument cluster.
  2. Place the ignition switch in the RUN position.
  3. Connect a test lamp from cavity 22 (PNK) of the instrument cluster connector to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

--

Go to Step 7

Locate and repair the open in the CKT 39 (PNK) between the GAUGES fuse and the instrument cluster connector.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

  1. Reconnect the instrument cluster.
  2. Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
  3. Release the parking brake.
  4. Place the ignition switch in the RUN position.
  5. Backprobe from cavity 17 (LT GRN/BLK) of the instrument cluster connector to ground with a test lamp.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Replace the instrument cluster.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

  1. Remove the DRL control module.
  2. Place the ignition switch in the RUN position.
  3. Connect a test lamp from cavity G of the DRL control module connector to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 11

Repair the open in the CKT 592 (LT GRN/BLK) between the DRL control module connector, cavity G and cavity 17 of the instrument cluster connector.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

Replace the DRL module. Refer to Daytime Running Lights (DRL) Control Module Replacement .
